This spring has reminded us why this little mountain property means so much to us.

We have watched several beautiful weddings take place here at The Cabins at Copperhill, and each one has carried its own kind of magic. Some were simple. Some were romantic. Some were filled with laughter, family, music, and long tables of food. But all of them had one thing in common — they brought people together in a way that felt meaningful, personal, and unforgettable.

There is something special about celebrating in the mountains.

Maybe it is the quiet of the woods. Maybe it is the way the evening light settles over the cabins. Maybe it

is the sound of people laughing around the fire after the formal parts of the day are over. Whatever it is, celebrations here do not feel rushed or overly polished. They feel real.

And that is part of what we love most.

Long before modern wedding venues, elaborate decorations, and perfectly planned timelines, courtship and marriage in Appalachia were often simple, heartfelt, and centered around family, community, and commitment. Couples courted on front porches, at church gatherings, community dinners, and family events. A wedding was not always about creating a show. One of our favorite places on the property is The Courting Cabin. Even the name makes people smile. It is a cozy one-bedroom cabin tucked into the property, perfect for couples who want a quiet getaway, a honeymoon-style stay, or just a peaceful weekend away from the noise of everyday life.

The idea of “courting” feels old-fashioned now, but there is something beautiful about it. It speaks of slowing down. Taking time. Sitting together. Talking. Dreaming. Getting to know one another without the distractions of the world constantly pulling at you.
