Copperhill Country Cabins

Rafting and Tubing Info

Copperhill Country Cabins is located just over 6 miles from the eastern entrance to the Cherokee National Forest on Route 64,  9 Miles from the Ocoee Whitewater Center. We are the closest rental cabins to the Ocoee Whitewater Center, site of the 1996 US Olympic Rafting & Kayaking competitions. All of the professional rafting companies listed below provide transportation into the forest for you from their location when you book a rafting trip with them.

We are located less than 10 minutes from every rafting company located on the eastern side of the Cherokee National Forest. If their address lists an office in  Ducktown, Copperhill or McCaysville they’re just a few miles away!

The Cherokee National Forest is approximately 18 miles across from the western side to the eastern side on Route 64. It’s a lovely drive thru spectacular scenery … but should you wish to avoid driving more than necessary when staying with us – try booking with a company that’s located by the eastern entrance to the park. Companies listed as being on the western side of the Cherokee National Forrest are aprox. 30 – 40 minutes away.

The Ocoee River is Dam controlled. Recreational Water Release Schedules for both Dam # 2 (which controls the middle river used for most rafting) and Dam #3 (which controls water in the upper Ocoee including the 1996 Olympic course and the Whitewater Center) are available by clicking the links above or by calling (423) 496 -0100. Availability is limited, particularly on the upper Olympic course. Please check & make sure that your rafting plans match the water release schedule.

(Note – TN law requires that children rafting the middle & upper Ocoee River be 12 years of age or older. For Children under 12 we suggest tubing instead – Rolling Thunder River Company  for the Ocoee/Toccoa River or Hiwassee Outfitters for the Hiwassee River)
